Facelift- FAQ

Q. How long do the results of a facelift last?

Results from a traditional facelift should last 5 to 10 years. Facelift surgery is a life-long improvement because it removes excess skin, but the natural aging process continues. However, smoking, sun exposure, and excessive alcohol consumption can compromise the results.

Q. How long do I have to stay out of the public eye?

You can go back to work complete with makeup within two weeks after your facelift.

Q. Are there age restrictions for having a facelift?

There is no age restriction for facelift surgery; however you must be in general good health to undergo surgery. Each person ages differently, but the general age range of facelift patients is between 45 and 70 years old.

Q. Are there non-surgical options for facelift?

There are other options to address facial aging, but none will have the dramatic results of surgery. Surface lines and wrinkles can be improved with what is sometimes called a "liquid facelift," or injectable fillers. There is also a non-surgical procedure called Ultherapy, which uses ultrasound therapy to tighten and firm skin. The results are gradual and will not duplicate surgery.

Q. How soon after my facelift will I be able to exercise?

Most patients that undergo a facelift can resume exercise at 4-6 weeks.

Q. What is a stem cell facelift?

A stem cell facelift, sometimes called a liquid facelift, is actually a facial rejuvenation procedure that involves fat grafting to the face to add volume and contour. During a stem cell facelift, fat cells (and the stem cells within them) are extracted by liposuction, processed, and injected into the face. This procedure is currently controversial.
